COMPANION CARE NEEDS:  17

  • 65 y/o female in Newport who has multiple health concerns and possible knee surgery coming up.  She is in need of a good friend who can lend a hand with things at her home and provide occasional rides, possibly including to the valley sometimes.  She has been through some difficult times but continues to be caring and kind.  Having a caring companion would make a world of difference.
  • 78 y/o female in Depoe Bay whose husband recently passed.  She is experiencing a lot of transition and is no longer driving due to disabilities.  She would love some help getting to the store and doing other errands while enjoying the company of a caring friend.
  • 73 y/o male in Newport would appreciate rides from the Food Bank to home when possible as well as enjoying walking on the beach and spending time in conversation.  He is a fun and friendly man who also enjoys playing the ukulele.
  • 80 y/o female in Newport who is no longer able to drive is in need of companionship to help provide ride assistance to appointments, getting groceries, and doing errands.  Housekeeping help is also very welcome. She has a friendly chocolate lab that keeps her company but is realizing that she will benefit greatly from connecting with people.
  • 77 y/o female in Newport in need of a friend while working out some practical life issues and waiting for medical care.  She is grieving the loss of her husband, and her life circumstances have changed extremely since his passing. Her golden retriever and main coon cat have been with her through hard times and are very friendly.  She is a strong believer and requests like-minded companionship.  Light housekeeping and accompanying her to errands would be welcome.
  • 80 y/o female in Toledo who is without any family support or transportation, would like to have a companion for ride assistance to do errands and especially to go to Fred Meyer’s for groceries.  She is a colorful and interesting person in need of a caring volunteer to connect with.
  • 73 y/o male in Waldport who is experiencing a great deal of loss and is in need of caring support to help navigate some changing life circumstances.  He no longer drives and could use some assistance with grocery shopping and errands.  He is a kind and gentle person who needs a friend.
  • 77 y/o female in Depoe Bay has a volunteer companion but is in need of someone to take her Golden Retriever for walks once or twice a week.
  • 71 y/o female in Yachats recuperating from ankle surgery and has no family close by.  She is friendly and used to more activity but is not able to get around for now.  A companion for friendship and helping out while she is healing is welcome.  She has no regular support.  
  • 80 y/o female living on the north end of Waldport is a cheerful, young at heart lady in need of some support to help her get around locally and for companionship.  She would love help getting to a mid-week prayer meeting at her church.
  • 69 y/o female in Lincoln City experiencing grief after the loss of her husband, is in need of ride assistance for grocery shopping and local errands.  She is thoughtful and interesting and just needs encouraging support as she continues to navigate life without her husband and to help keep anxiety down.  She has no family close by or ongoing local community support.
  • 79 y/o kind lady in Seal Rock needing a companion.  She currently needs help with errands and going to church in Newport.  She was an avid reader and quilter and used to volunteer at the Quilt Show.  She is currently healing from some difficult circumstances and injuries.  A friend to talk with and help with some needs would be very helpful to lift her spirit.
  • 84 y/o in Lincoln City.  Retired Christian Counselor/Pastor’s wife going through a time of loss and need.  Currently is in an assisted living facility but without the usual provisions that occur. She is physically quite impaired. Her primary need is to have help picking up prescriptions and other items, but also to have someone who cares just be there with her once a week or even once in a while.  
  • 81 y/o male in Siletz. He recently had an unexpected fall that has brought about changes in his independence.  He is being monitored for heart issues and sometimes feels he is too wobbly to be driving.  Ride assistance to the market and friendly conversation would be appreciated.  He enjoys music and is a very nice and quiet man.  He is retired from the science field and used to volunteer as a math tutor.
  • 77 y/o female in Siletz.  Feels isolated since she stopped driving and has had to manage her healthcare.  She would like companionship and help with getting groceries or being taken to the store to shop.  She has many interests and enjoys creating beautiful surroundings.  She is a sweet lady.
  • 87 y/o female in Lincoln City. Has experienced a mild stroke and has mild dementia.  She needs help with meal prep, laundry- folding sheets, etc.  She also needs assistance getting to appointments. Her interests are reading, going on long walks, gardening-vegetable, and visiting art galleries.  She has some support, but she is in need of more.
  • 79 y/o male in Newport.  He is a disabled veteran who needs support.  He would benefit from having someone to talk and visit with and for rides to errands while healing from some tendon issues. Some help keeping his home tidy is also welcome.

RESOURCE NEEDS:  

  • Donations/Gas cards for volunteers transporting seniors when going long distances.
  • Comfort quilts for seniors who are in the hospital or battling illness.
  • Donations for an electric wheelchair for a senior who has trouble using her wheelchair without assistance.
  • Ride assistance for seniors in Waldport, Toledo, Siletz, Depoe Bay, and Lincoln City while waiting to be matched with a volunteer.
  • Ride assistance only for a senior in Waldport with a disability needed to grocery store.
  • Regular or Mini Refrigerator with freezer needed for a senior whose refrigerator is no longer working.
  • Metal ice chest to help with food storage for a senior in Otis (see Amazon Wish List)
  • Cane that has a curved handle needed for a senior in Lincoln City (see Amazon Wish List)
  • Donations/Grocery or Universal Gift Cards for Special Food Needs (to help meet the needs of some of our seniors on restricted diets)
